Base Problem
Name the ground. Dig past symptoms to the base problem, the structure that keeps struggle in place, and articulate the problem worth a decade.
Venture Idea Studio™ (VIS)
Every Cornerstone venture starts in the Venture Idea Studio™ (VIS), the drawing room of the platform, run by Impact Consulting through IdeaKraal™, our African creative circle. The kraal is where a community gathers and keeps its wealth. Ideas are the new wealth. VIS takes a raw observation from a community economy and walks it, end to end, through the BRICKS Method: our proprietary process for problem identification, articulation, value proposition design and venture formulation.
A Cornerstone original
Six bricks. One structure. Each brick converges on an artefact you can defend, and no brick is skipped. Ideas that survive all six earn a place in the Cornerstone Blueprint.
Name the ground. Dig past symptoms to the base problem, the structure that keeps struggle in place, and articulate the problem worth a decade.
Design with, not for. The people who will live with the answer co-design it: their jobs, pains, gains and community assets.
Size the prize. Quantity surveys, segmentation and AI-assisted assessment for economies where formal data runs out.
Curate the solution set. Map the offer to real pains and gains until the recipients would miss it if it disappeared tomorrow.
Lock the venture and make it buildable. Write the one statement of who it serves, what it does and why it wins. Design the engine that earns from month one and compounds for years. Commit to a first brick and a 90-day proof, signed.
Raise the roof. Feedback loops, leverage points and safeguards for durability, and an ownership model that compounds in the community.
The BRICKS Method learns from the best of the world and the oldest of it. From the world: IBM Enterprise Design Thinking, the Stanford d.school, the Design Council's Double Diamond, Strategyzer's value proposition design, lean venture practice and Donella Meadows' systems thinking. From Africa: African Knowledge Systems and tribal community practice, the lekgotla where decisions are talked to consensus, the stokvel where capital is pooled on trust, letsema where the work is done together, and ubuntu, where the person is the community. Fused into one process for markets where data is scarce, trust is the currency, community is the unit of scale and ownership is the goal. No school teaches this combination and no rival holds it. It is ours.
How VIS works
Every idea moves through the same arc, and every ritual has a name and an artefact. The gate is argued from evidence, not opinion.
Every venture starts on the ground, with named people and an observed struggle, never with a slide. No idea enters VIS without a Site Walk and named sponsor recipients.
A Letsema Sprint, many hands raising one structure, takes your idea through all six bricks of the BRICKS Method in 5 to 10 days, from problem to prize to proof.
You play the venture back to the people it must serve, and the room speaks until the truth is on the table. Verbatim objections are written back into the Insights brick as evidence.
The plumb line is how builders check a wall is true. Your VIS Score™, built from evidence in every brick, decides whether the idea is load-bearing or goes back to the yard. Minimum to pass: 70.
Ideas that pass are handed into the Cornerstone Blueprint with a signed First Brick: one test, 90 days, real recipients, real money.
Every working site has a yard where material gets sorted before anything is laid. Ideas are placed by lift for recipients against buildability.
High lift, high buildability. These open the venture and prove it in 90 days.
High lift, hard to build. Worth the dig: sequence the capability and bring the right capital partner before breaking soil.
Easy to build, modest lift. They hold the build together, but a venture is never led by mortar.
Low lift, low buildability today. Stacked with reasons and revisited next cycle. Stored is not rejected: the yard is where overlooked stones wait their turn.
VIS as a platform
MSMEs · Builders
A 6-week cohort where overlooked builders take one venture idea through the full arc: Site Walk, Letsema Sprint, Lekgotla, Plumb Line. Graduates with load-bearing scores earn access to the Cornerstone Blueprint pipeline. Sponsored seats available for corporates and foundations.
Start with an ideaCorporates · Funds · Agencies
Venture concepting as a service for institutions that want credible entry into mass markets but keep designing from the boardroom. A 2 to 3 week embedded sprint on real ground, closing with a Lekgotla and a scored portfolio of three to five venture concepts with evidence packs.
Book a Drafting RoomGovernments · Foundations
A licensed programme for enterprise development at district, provincial or national scale. We certify local facilitators in the BRICKS Method and deploy VIS as the programme's operating system, so public money follows scored evidence rather than applications. Cornerstone retains the method IP throughout.
